He is surrounded by the tools of his trade including a thermometer, an anemometer, a hygrothermograph, and a Hansel and Gretel House barometer. In January 1951 during the Korean War, the Truman Administration imposed wage and price controls in an effort to control inflation. The step was viewed as a temporary stopgap measure. Ross Lewis was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Milwaukee Journal for 35 years.
